Road map back to the trails

Finally, some light at the end of this long lockdown tunnel! It might be a very gradual return to ‘normal’ life that lies ahead, but it’s progress, and we’re very excited at the prospect of welcoming people back to the Lake District on our guided mountain bike adventures!

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday, which states that from 29th March, “Formally organised outdoor sports can restart”, we’ll be taking bookings for guided rides from that date. Until then, we can continue to offer one-to-one sessions for local residents.

The “stay at home” rule is also set to end on 29th March, although the advice is that people should stay local as much as possible. We’ll therefore leave it to your discretion as to how far you choose to travel for your ride, however, please be aware that holiday accommodation will be unable to reopen until April 12th  at the earliest.

From April 12th, when UK holidays away from home are to be permitted once more, and self-contained accommodation allowed to reopen for use, we look forward to welcoming back those from further flung parts of the county.

It goes without saying that we’re still very much in the clutches of a global pandemic, so we will continue to take all the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe at this time, and help to minimise the spread of the virus.

Of course, the government’s road map was delivered with several caveats, meaning that the dates of these stages could be moved, if certain conditions aren’t met. With this is mind, we have implemented an extremely flexible cancellation policy whereby clients are able reschedule or cancel bookings at short notice, and receive a full refund, if necessary. If your booking is affected by a change to the dates set out in ‘the road map’, we’ll happily reschedule your ride accordingly.

At a time when reducing pressure on emergency services and the NHS is crucial, it’s never been more important to hire a guide before venturing into the fells on a bike. Plus, we also know where to go to escape the crowds!

We’ve already had several enquiries since Monday’s announcement, so if you’re planning to visit the Lake District over the coming months, and are keen to join us for a mountain biking adventure, be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Lake District, and show you the best mountain biking the area has to offer!
